2025 Goliath

The 2025 Grosvenor Goliath is rapidly approaching, and everything points toward it being another record-breaking event. Since its launch in 2011, the Goliath's attendance has increased year-on-year (with the exception of the COVID years), culminating in a massive 11,749 turnout for the 2024 edition.

Hundreds of players have won their £200 Goliath seats online at PokerStars, which is one of the reasons the tournament could set another record attendance. At the time of writing, 679 players have won seats via satellites, plus another four have used Power Path Silver Passes, taking the total number of online qualifiers to 683 at PokerStars alone.

That number is set to massively increase, with a PokerStars representative informing PokerNews the online poker giant is on course to send 1,000+ players to Coventry for the 2025 Goliath.

At least 100x £200 seats will be won across a pair of £22 buy-in satellites on July 6 and July 13. Cards are in the air from 8:00 p.m. BST, which each satellite awarding at least 50 Goliath seats. Additional seats will be awarded for every £200 in the prize pool over the £10,000 guaranteed amount. Feeder satellites costing only £2.20 are also available, giving more PokerStars players a shot at Goliath glory.

The 2025 Goliath is the Main Event of the GUKPT Goliath stop at the Grosvenor G Casino in Coventry. The festival runs from july 24 through to August 3, with the Goliath running July 26 to August 3.

Eight flights are available, each seeing players fight it out over 18 levels. Unlimited re-entries are available for the first 12 levels, so bagging a few seats online at PokerStars is worthwhile. Day 2 kicks off at 11:00 a.m. BST on August 2 and continues until only 10% of the field remains. Those survivors return at 11:00 a.m. on August 3 to conclude the event and crown the Goliath champion.

Lee Rawson won the inaugural Goliath in 2011, coming out on top of a 1,765-strong field. By 2014, the number of entrants surpassed 3,300, and more than 5,200 by 2016.

As word spread about a low-stakes, high-value event, the number of players buying into the Goliath exploded. More than 7,500 entered in 2018 and an incredible 9,300 in 2019. The Goliath was set to smash through 10,000 entrants in 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic put paid to those plans.

During the COVID lockdowns, the Goliath moved online, where it saw 2,013 players buy into the 2020 edition before 2,722 the following year.

Goliath returned to the live arena with a bang in 2022, attracting 10,584 players. Kyle Jeffrey won that historic event for £200,000, which is still the largest-ever top prize the Goliath has awarded.

In 2023, Alex Todd topped an 11,493 field to win £176,800. Last time out, 11,749 players bought in, and William Watkins came out on top after a nine-way chop as he banked £166,058.
